The word computer is made up of two words.

  1. Compute (Solving)
  2. Computer (Solver)

How many parts does a computer have?

A computer has four main parts.

  1. System Unit
  2. Monitor
  3. Keyboard
  4. Mouse

What is System Unit in Computer?

system-unit

The system unit is the main part of the computer. It is the physical box or a case.

It has two shapes

  1. Desktop
  2. Tower

It includes a motherboard, central processing unit (CPU), RAM memory, power supply and other components.

What is CPU?

Parts of a computer keyboard?

Parts of keyboard

Depending on the functions we can divide the computer keyboard into five parts.

Alphabetic /Typing / Main Keys Pad

This is the main part of the keyboard where we type (a ~ z / A ~ Z)  letters and  (0~9) numbers.

Control Keys

The function of control keys is to perform specific actions alone or in combination with other keys.

How many keys are there in a computer keyboard?

A computer keyboard typically consists of between 80 to 110 keys depending on the type of keyboard.

Standard keyboards have around 104 keys, while multimedia keyboards can have up to 110 keys.

These keys include alphanumeric keys, function keys, navigation keys, and special keys such as the Caps Lock, Num Lock, and Scroll Lock keys.

Depending on the type of keyboard, there may also be other keys such as multimedia keys, hotkeys, and shortcut keys.

Who is the father of computers?

Alan Turing is generally considered to be the father of the computer.

Turing was an English mathematician, logician, cryptanalyst and computer scientist.

He was born in 1912 and is considered one of the most influential and important figures in the development of computer science.

Turing is credited with developing the concept of the modern computer and building the first programmable digital computer.

He also developed the Turing machine, a model of a general-purpose computer capable of solving problems.

Turing’s work in the field of computer science was instrumental in the development of modern computers and the development of the field of artificial intelligence.

This is why Turing is considered the father of computers.

What is the difference between a CPU and a system unit?

The CPU (Central Processing Unit) and the system unit are both components of a computer system. While they are both important components of a computer, they are quite different in terms of their purpose and functions.

The CPU is considered the “brain” of the computer system. It is responsible for executing instructions from programs and applications. The CPU contains the circuitry necessary to interpret and execute instructions, including an arithmetic logic unit and a control unit. It also contains registers and cache memory for storing and quickly accessing data and instructions.

The system unit, on the other hand, is the main enclosure that houses the internal components of the computer, such as the motherboard, CPU, memory, hard drive, drives, and other components. It is the physical box that houses all the components of the computer system.

In summary, the CPU is a processor that interprets and executes instructions, while the system unit is the physical enclosure that houses the internal components of the computer.

How many types of CPUs are available in computers?

There are many types of CPUs available, each with their own unique advantages and disadvantages. The most popular types of CPUs are Intel, AMD, and ARM.

Intel CPUs are the most powerful, but also the most expensive. AMD CPUs are more affordable, but not as powerful as Intel. ARM CPUs are the least expensive, but also the least powerful.

Additionally, many other types of CPUs are available, such as IBM PowerPC, DEC Alpha, and others.

Each type of CPU has its own specific uses and benefits, so it’s important to determine which type of CPU is best suited for the task at hand.
